Better in the Long Run? Resilient Flooring, Hands Down

Compared to Vinyl Composition Tile (VCT), resilient flooring wins in terms of installation, durability, maintenance, sound absorption and design flexibility.

Installation of resilient flooring takes less labor; no adhesive is needed, and there aren’t individual tiles to align.

1. Save time during installation

Resilient flooring options such as Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) and sheet vinyl are usually faster and easier to install than VCT. Many products are available in click-lock and peel-and-stick formats.

If your subfloors are uneven, resilient flooring is more forgiving, reducing preparation time.

2. Just sweep and mop; no stripping, waxing or buffing required

Newer resilient flooring options are often designed with low-maintenance surfaces you can clean with a broom and a mop.

The higher maintenance requirements of VCT make it less appealing for plasma centers.

3. Count on long-term durability

Resilient flooring simply lasts longer, cutting costs in the long run. In high-traffic areas, it has a longer lifespan than VCT, with minimal wear.

Newer resilient flooring types have “wear layers” that help resist scratches, dents and stains.

4. Choose from a vast array of designs

With resilient flooring, you can choose designs that mimic

• wood
• stone and
• ceramics.

You can also choose customizable patterns. VCT usually only comes in solids and speckled patterns.

When you work with our team, Stough Interiors can help you select a flooring pattern that enhances your overall space.

By absorbing sound better, resilient flooring contributes to a calm plasma collection atmosphere.

5. Give the environment—and your donors and employees—a break

Many resilient flooring options are available with eco-friendly certifications (such as FloorScale), and some are made from recycled materials.

They also typically have lower VOC emissions than VCT, and fewer chemicals harmful to the environment are needed for maintenance.

Resilent flooring is also typically softer underfoot, and better at absorbing sound, making it a better choice where comfort and quiet are important.
